A Message from: www.montyscorner.org!
We would like to invite you to join the worldwide event for children living with cancer, called the “Ring of Yellow Heart”. The event is to give children all over the world the opportunity to share their experiences and gain hope and encouragement from each other.
The event is initiated by Monty’s Corner, the community support arm of the CCE Research Alliance, a charity focusing on research on the causes of childhood cancers.
This is not a fundraiser or an awareness campaign; it is to give children encouragement and hope, and to make them feel very special and supported. More details and registration information can be found here:
http://www.montyscorner.org/content/ring-yellow-heart-event
facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Yellow-Heart-Event/168215108470 You can also read two stories that inspired this event; the two girls who exchanged pendants before each of their important treatments, and the boy who was given encouragement when he received a card from an unknown person.
Children who participate in the event will have the opportunity to host the Yellow Heart for a specified period of time.
• During this time, they will be able to record their experiences and share them with others.
• They will then pass on the yellow heart to another child in the same country or another country.
• They will also get a keepsake for themselves.
• As they pass on the yellow heart, the children will be given the option of sending a small personal gift such as a drawing or a craftwork or a cultural item for the next child to keep.
• Once the Yellow Heart’s journey is complete we will have a balloon race with the names of all the children who participated in the event. The winner and three runner ups will receive special prizes.
We are excitedly making arrangements for this event and would appreciate an early response from you. Registration closes October 2009 and the event is scheduled to start in December of 2009.
One big question we have received but not published it on the website is whether there is a possibility of registering a child after the registration period is closed. There may be cases (hopefully not) where a new child has been diagnosed before the Yellow Heart reached your area. Our answer is “yes”. We would not like to leave any child behind.

Hello Friends!
You may have noticed the LARGE space in our "News" section...
Just after reporting the death of our webmaster, Matt, I was diagnosed with my 4th cancer- breast cancer.
The last two years have been filled with appointments, surgeries, chemo, side effects... but primarily for me- GOD. His presence was once again unmistakeable as I walked through yet another cancer battle- this time with three kids and patient husband along for the ride. My emotional cup "runneth over" as a recall all the ways God was so extraordinarily loving and WITH me at every twist and turn.
I have a CD of this story (45 min) that I will send to those who need a boost in the area of God's presence in their lives in the most challenging of times. If you are interested, please email me at: kenon@kidscancernetwork.org.Labels: Surviving Cancer - Fourth time around...
My name is Kathi Clarke. I lost my 14 yr old niece last year due to Burkitts Lymphoma. Since that devastating day I have been involved in a group to promote childhood cancer awareness. I wanted to write you and let you know of our group, and also our petition to raise awareness. There are so many organizations trying to make a difference for the same cause, I feel if we can work together on awareness, we will achieve more. Here is our group link: http://curechildhoodcancer.ning.com/ Here is a posting on the front page right now.... I welcome you all to PAC2. As members I encourage you to invite others. To blog, join groups, provide info on fundraising events, and provide your ideas and thoughts in the Forum posts. To become a force we must continue to grow, we must continue to add signatures to the petition, we must develop and implement strategies to ensure we are seen and heard.
Yesterdays announcement of the feature of CHOP on the StandUp2Cancer show is a step in the right direction. But we need our own roadblock that forces the American public to take notice. The numbers are simply staggering, yet no one knows. Together we can make a difference. Together we can make it happen.
I am very excited by our membership so far. We have representatives from CureSearch, Make-A-Wish, Curing Childrens Cancer Fund, Team Unite, CureSearch Advocacy network, Stand Up 2 Cancer, medical professionals from Duke, TX Children's. We have parents, grandparents, friends, family members and others who simply care. It is shaping up to be a great mix of talents, life experiences and personalities.
I would ask you all to read the Mission Statement for PAC2. Its my thoughts. It can change some. But my goal is not to be another fundraiser. Not to be another disease specific group. Its to create nationwide awareness. Its to create the Inconvenient Truth moment for Childhood Cancer.
Just like you, I wish we didn't have to be here. But my son told me "we have to play the hand we are dealt Dad". (pre-randy pausch). So, we do what we do. We have chosen to fight.
Over the next week we will be establishing an Advisory Group made up of people from that great mix I just described above. We will start to lay out ideas, suggestions and strategies to make PAC2 a force to reckon with. I know we will be asking each of you your thoughts, ideas, talents and how you can best advance our fight. I know the response will be overwhelming.
Thanks to each and everyone......AJs Dad (ps - sign and spread the petition, if you don't who will) And our petition link: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/CureChildhoodCancer Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for what you do for so many kids/families. Please feel free to share this information with others to help our cause. Please email me if you have any questions. Thank you. Kathi Clarke www.caringbridge.org/visit/kelsiemckun
